CAIU Data Backup to H: Drive

NOTE:  IF you are not at a CAIU Location, you will need to connect to the VPN Client first.  See steps on how to connect here.

 

Step 1: Locate your Local Data folder on your computer
-Click the “Start” button Image result for windows 7 start button or Related image
-Click the “Computer” link within the start menu or the Documents Icon In Windows 10 mceclip0.png

-Locate your “Local Disk (C:) drive” and double-clickmceclip2.png

-Locate the “Users” folder and double clickmceclip3.png


-Locate your specific user folder (firstinitial,lastname) and double click 


-Within this folder, you should see a list of folders that looks like the following ->

(Your most important folders to back up will be the folders highlighted here)

Leave this window open and move on to the next step.


Step 2: Locate your Home Folder (H: drive, network storage)


Click the “Start” button  or Related image

-Click the “Computer” link within the start menu or the Documents Icon In Windows 10 mceclip0.png

-Locate your “\\caiu-fs01\home$ (H:)” drive and double-click

*if you do not see your H: drive, please contact the helpdesk @ helpdesk@caiu.org 717-732-8403, option 1

**This is the folder you will be copying files INTO from Step 1

Create a new folder in your H:\ drive to indicate a backup (eg backup 6/25/19)

Copy all folders that you have selected in Step 2 into this newly created folder on your H: drive

 


Wait for the data to finish transferring and visually verify that data has been transferred.
