(The pinhole reset button is located on the bottom of the laptop)
When to use the reset hole:
The systems contain a small reset hole on the base that can be used if they become non responsive. The reset hole can be used for the following situations:
A unit will not power on, either on battery or AC power
Try connecting AC power first to see if the unit powers on. If the unit does not run, disconnect the AC adapter and then put a straightened paper clip into the reset hole and depress the switch for a few seconds. Try reconnecting AC power and the system should power on again at that point. If the system does not power on using either AC power or after using the reset hole, it should be serviced.
A unit will not power down using either the operating system or the power switch
Press and hold the power button for a few seconds. If the computer does not respond, remove AC power, and put a straightened paper clip into the reset hole and depress the switch. The unit should power off.
A unit will not resume from standby
In this case press and hold the power button for a few seconds. If the computer still does not respond, remove AC power, and put a straightened paper clip into the reset hole on the base and depress the switch to turn off the computer.
To reset the laptop, use a paperclip and press the pinhole reset for 10 seconds. Afterwards, connect your charger and power on the laptop.
If the laptop still doesn't charge, please call the Help Desk.
